Fan Fuel: Is Nazem Kadri done as a Maple Leaf?

BY ROB MACNEIL – FAN FUEL BLOGGER

With the news Wednesday that Nazem Kadri, along with Keith Aulie, was sent down to the Toronto Marlies, the Sportsnet.ca forums were abuzz with what this means for Kadri’s future.

Is it time to use him as trade bait for NHL Trade Deadline Day or is Kadri just a victim of the numbers game?

Fan Fuel wants to know what you think of the Leafs sending Kadri down and whether his days as a Toronto Maple Leaf are numbered.

Here are some of the comments in our forums so far on Wednesday. Please add yours at the bottom:

** It’s obvious this was just a temporary move, especially for Kadri. He has played well enough to be kept on the Leafs, but he’s not waiver eligible like any other forward. Rosehill makes more sense to be sitting in the pressbox. Kadri will be back once some logjam is cleared. – 11:32 am by SprDaVE

** Good thing he isn’t bolting to the KHL anytime soon, or asking for a trade. – 11:33 am by SprDaVE

** Brutal. I get it….but brutal. Armstrong better do something out there. – 11:35 am by leaf36

** Kadri showed and proved he belongs in NHL. I don’t know how BB will clear the logjam. I just hope for Nazem he will either get a full time stay with leafs or he gets traded. – 11:38 am by caveman67

** to be honest, last night, I didn’t even notice Kadri was playing…until he was put in the shootout. he needs to make more of an impact, if he wants to stick around…and obviously he hasn’t made a big enough one yet. – 11:45 am by Chris_D

** Makes perfect sense. I’m not sure why anybody would be surprised or upset…unless they haven’t been paying attention to how the NHL has worked the past 15-20 years or so. – 11:45 am by GrimLeafer

** Stupid… If players deserve to be up, they should be up. End of story. You have Komi playing but Aulie is arguably already a better dman. As for Kadri, you make room for him. He’s shown he’s ready to learn at this level and can keep up with the NHL style of play. We shouldn’t have 3 or 4 players just playing because they signed bigger contracts. – 11:49 am by TheSeed

** I have no problem with Kadri going down, he is not an impact player yet and this should open his eyes that he has to do more when given the chance. – 12:32 pm by ATRUBLULEAF

** Do more??? Like what score 15 goals in 5 games he had chance to play on the 3rd line with limited minutes he gets? I would rather see Connolly sit, and Kadri center 3rd line… Wasn’t Kadri – Bozak – Army our best line in preseason? He has nothing to prove in AHL, I understand it is a business and all but… – 1:53 pm by caveman67
