Ottawa Senators defenceman Jakob Chychrun is doubtful for Saturday's game against the New Jersey Devils, head coach D.J. Smith told reporters on Friday.
Chychrun left Thursday's 7-2 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the final period, after he was hit awkwardly in the corner of the boards by forward Michael Eyssimont. The 24-year-old skated towards the Senators' bench favouring his left leg before finally making his way to the locker room.
Smith told reporters after the game that he did not think his defenceman left with an injury but rather with cramps due to fatigue. Smith added that Chychrun had trouble sleeping, had a root canal earlier on Thursday and didn't eat before the game.
Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine will be out two to four weeks after suffering a triceps strain in practice on Thursday, the team announced Friday.
Laine is second on the Blue Jackets in scoring with 52 points (22 goals, 30 assists) in 55 games this season.
Laine could very well be done for the season as the Blue Jackets are last in the NHL standings with their final game on April 14.
Laine signed a four-year, $34.8-million extension last off-season.
Bruins forward A.J. Greer will have a hearing for cross-checking Montreal Canadiens forward Mike Hoffman on Thursday, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced.
Greer was given a five-minute major and game misconduct for cross-checking Hoffman in the face in the first period.
Greer has five goals and six assists in 52 games this season.
Wild defenceman John Klingberg will miss his second game in a row with an upper-body injury on Saturday against the Chicago Blackhawks, per Michael Russo of The Athletic.
Klingberg, who was acquired in a trade deadline deal with the Anaheim Ducks, has one goal and three assists in nine games with the Wild.
Avalanche defencemen Cale Makar and Erik Johnson will return from injury Friday against the Arizona Coyotes, per Peter Baugh of The Athletic.
Makar missed the past two games with a lower-body injury.
Johnson has been out since Feb. 11 with an ankle injury.
The Golden Knights won't have goaltender Logan Thompson, forward Reilly Smith or defenceman Alec Martinez for their game against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, the team told reporters on Friday.
Thompson and Smith suffered injuries in the Golden Knights' win over the Calgary Flames on Thursday, while Martinez is out for personal reasons.
"Hopefully they are all short term," Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy said.
