The league-leading Colorado Avalanche are getting the other half of their stellar goaltending tandem back.
Colorado activated goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood from injured reserve, the team announced Wednesday. In a corresponding move, the team assigned goalie Trent Miner to the AHL.
Blackwood, 29, last played on Dec. 31 in a 6-1 win over the St. Louis Blues before being placed on IR with a lower-body injury.
In 16 games this season, Blackwood boasts a 13-1-1 record with a 2.07 goals-against average and .924 save percentage.
Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood have combined to form one of the NHL's strongest goalie tandems this season, playing a major role in the Avalanche's 33-4-8 start.
