Colorado Avalanche superstar Cale Makar was named the cover athlete of EA Sports NHL 24 Monday.
"Couldn't be more excited to be on the cover for #NHL24. Honored to have this opportunity," Makar said in a statement.
It's the latest accomplishment in a very successful two-year stretch for the 24-year-old defenceman, which includes adding both a Stanley Cup and a Norris Trophy to his trophy case.
Makar replaces Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras and Canadian women's team star Sarah Nurse who were both on the cover of NHL 23.
It is the first time a Colorado player has been on the cover since Peter Forsberg was on the cover of NHL 98.
Makar had 17 goals and 29 assists in 60 games for the Avalanche last season.
The full reveal of the game will take place on Aug. 16.
