The Colorado Avalanche are hoping to get a boost as they sit on the brink of elimination.
Defenceman Devon Toews is feeling better and will travel with the team to Dallas, head coach Jared Bednar told reporters Tuesday.
The top pairing defenceman was listed as unavailable for Game 4 due to illness. Caleb Jones came into the lineup in his place.
Bednar said the absence was not related to a hit Toews took from the Stars' Jamie Benn in the second period of Game 2.
The Abbotsford, B.C., native has one goal and six points in eight playoff games and is plus-24 in his usual place alongside Norris Trophy winner Cale Makar.
Stars head coach Pete DeBoer said that defenceman Chris Tanev looked better after leaving Game 4 following a hit by Ross Colton. DeBoer also said that Roope Hintz is going to need some further testing done after leaving the last game with an upper-body injury.
Hintz appeared to sustain the injury early in the second period when he took a cross-check from Avalanche centre Nathan MacKinnon on his right side. He briefly remained on the ice, though appeared to be in pain, and in that time, blocked a shot and was cross-checked in the back by defenceman Sean Walker.
Dallas holds a 3-1 lead in the second-round series as Colorado looks to avoid elimination on the road. Watch Game 5 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
