A staple in the Colorado Avalanche lineup will be returning.
Forward Joel Kiviranta agreed to a one-year contract for next season, the club announced on Friday. Kiviranta's salary was not disclosed.
Kiviranta, 29, played 79 regular-season games and all seven post-season contests for the Avalanche last season.
In the regular season, he tallied career highs in goals (16) and points (23) and scored his first career hat trick in December.
"Joel is a hard-working, responsible player who has demonstrated he can be a key contributor at five-on-five," said Avalanche general manager Chris MacFarland. "He has been a valuable member of our lineup, and we are excited to have him back for another season."
Kiviranta, of Finland, first broke into the NHL as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Stars during the 2019-20 season.
He played four seasons for the Stars before spending the past two in Colorado.
Across 298 regular-season games, Kiviranta has 35 goals and 25 assists. He also has 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) in 51 playoff contests.
