The Colorado Avalanche have re-signed forward Valeri Nichushkin to a two-year contract extension, the team announced Saturday.

Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed by the Avalanche.

Nichushkin scored 13 goals and added 14 assists in 65 games for Colorado this season, his first as a member of the club since signing with them during the 2019 off-season.

"Valeri played important minutes for us this season and had one of the best years of his career,” Joe Sakic, Colorado's general manager, said in a press release. "He is a big, young winger who provides depth scoring, can play up and down our lineup and is reliable defensively. We're happy to have him back for another two seasons."

During the 2019-20 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Nichushkin scored two goals and one assists across 15 contests, while ranking second on the team with 53 hits.

A first-round selection, 10th overall, of the Dallas Stars in the 2013 NHL Draft, Nichushkin has registered 36 goals and 65 assists in his 288 regular-season NHL games played.
