The Colorado Avalanche's depth overwhelmed the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final but that depth could be tested more as the series moves along.
The Avalanche lost winger Andre Burakovsky to an undisclosed injury in the second period of Saturday's 7-0 win. Replays showed Burakovsky blocking a puck in the neutral zone with his hand on his final shift of the game.
"Burky left the game, he wasn't able to come back and he's going to get further evaluated," head coach Jared Bednar said after the game.
Bednar said Sunday that Burakovsky was being evaluated and was not travelling with the Avalanche, but would join the team in Tampa on Monday ahead of Game 3.
Burakovsky left the game after taking only two shifts in the second period — and collecting two points in the first. The 27-year-old Austrian has been an important player all playoffs for the Avalanche with eight points in 12 games including goals in both Final games.
The Avalanche welcomed Andrew Cogliano back Saturday after the winger had surgery on his finger earlier in the playoffs, but remain without centre Nazem Kadri and defenceman Sam Girard.
