Colorado Avalanche defenceman Jacob MacDonald is “alert, responsive and has full movement,” the team said Sunday, after he left the ice on a stretcher following a hit from Florida Panthers forward Ryan Lomberg.
The Avalanche, when providing their update on MacDonald’s well-being, said he was undergoing further evaluation at Ball Arena in Colorado. The full extent of his injuries are not known at this time.

The play MacDonald was injured on occurred in the second period. With 2:15 remaining in the frame, MacDonald was attempting to play the puck along the left boards when Lomberg connected with a hard hit, sending MacDonald to the ice.
No penalty was assessed on the play.
MacDonald has played in seven games for Colorado this season.
