The Colorado Avalanche will be without their No. 1 centre for the foreseeable future after head coach Jared Bednar announced Nathan MacKinnon was week-to-week with a lower-body injury.
MacKinnon was injured in Sunday's overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild. He had two assists in the game, but left after only 15 minutes of ice time with the injury. The two-time Hart Trophy finalist has two goals and 14 points in 10 games this season.
MacKinnon joins a growing list of Avalanche players on the sidelines with injuries. Bednar confirmed Tuesday that goalie Pavel Francouz, defencemen Erik Johnson and Devon Toews and forwards Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Matt Calvert were all week-to-week with various injuries as well.
