It's still relatively early in the AHL season, but Donovan Sebrango may just have scored the goal of the year.
The Belleville Senators defenceman pulled off a no-look, between-the-legs marker on Saturday, extending his team’s lead to 4-1 against the Syracuse Crunch.
Judging by his highlight-worthy tally, you might assume Sebrango is a regular offensive threat. However, the goal was just the seventh of his AHL career, spanning 178 games.
Sebrango, 22, is eight games into his second season with Belleville. Originally drafted 63rd overall by the Detroit Red Wings in 2020, he was traded to the Ottawa Senators last off-season in the deal that sent Alex DeBrincat the other way.
A native of Ottawa, Sebrango has yet to make his NHL debut and is in the final year of his three-year, entry-level deal. He appeared in three of the Senators' seven pre-season games this year, recording two goals.
