One of the most anticipated prospects from the 2024 NHL draft class will unfortunately be getting a late start to his professional career.
Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Artyom Levshunov has reportedly suffered a foot injury that will cause him to miss the team's prospect showcase, CHGO Blackhawks reporter Mario Tiribassi reported on Wednesday.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman added that the defenceman is in a walking boot and is expected to be out for a few weeks.
The 18-year-old Zhoblin, Belarus native was selected second overall by the Blackhawks at the draft in June. Last season, he had a solid year with Michigan State, which saw him notch nine goals and 26 assists in 38 contests.
It's unclear as to how the injury may affect his timeline for promotion to the big league club, as the team's opening game comes against Utah on Oct. 8.
