An experienced backup goalie is up for grabs.
The Chicago Blackhawks waived netminder Laurent Brossoit after his AHL conditioning stint ended, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on Monday.
Elsewhere, the Detroit Red Wings waived forward Jonatan Berggren while the Dallas Stars waived defenceman Vladislav Kolyachonok.
Brossoit, 32, was recently granted permission to speak with other clubs, per Friedman.
The goaltender has been sidelined for 18 months following a significant injury sustained during the 2024 post-season with the Winnipeg Jets.
He has a cap hit of $3.3 million and posted a .900 save percentage and 3.39 goals-against average in three games during a conditioning stint with the AHL's Rockford IceHogs. He also scored a goal.
Berggren, 25, has six points (two goals, four assists) in 15 games this season.
The 2018 second-round pick from Sweden appears set to be replaced by forward John Leonard, whom the Red Wings recalled from the AHL earlier Monday.
Kolyachonok, 24, tallied one goal and two assists in 11 games for the Stars.
