The Chicago Blackhawks are locking up one of their core forwards for the long haul.
The Blackhawks agreed to a seven-year contract extension with forward Frank Nazar that carries a $6.59-million cap hit.
The deal comes after Nazar has played just 56 career NHL games, scoring 13 goals and 27 points. Last season, the 21-year-old had 12 goals and 26 points in 53 games.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Nazar's contract is one of the largest ever signed by a forward with his experience.
“Frank elevated his game last season and has proven himself to be one of the top young talents in the league,” said Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson in a statement. “He drives play using his elite speed and playmaking abilities, creating problems for opponents and opportunities for teammates every night. Frank is an integral piece of our team, and we’re thrilled to have him with us for the next eight seasons.”
The Blackhawks selected the Detroit native with the 13th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
Nazar also appeared in 10 games with Team USA 2025 IIHF World Championship helping the team capture a gold medal with six goals and 12 points in 10 games.
