After recording two points in his second game back from an injury absence, Connor Bedard will have to watch from the sidelines once again.
The Chicago Blackhawks' young star is a late scratch for Monday's game against the Edmonton Oilers due to an illness, the team announced ahead of puck drop.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that he's dealing with the flu.
Bedard has broken out in a major way in his third season since being drafted first overall in 2023. The 20-year-old has recorded 19 goals and 27 assists for 46 points through 33 games.
However, he missed nearly a month of action after suffering a shoulder injury against the St. Louis Blues on Dec. 12.
He returned to the lineup on Jan. 9 against the Washington Capitals and played both legs of a back-to-back, with a game against the Nashville Predators on Jan. 10.
The 2023 Calder Trophy winner has tallied 64 goals and 110 assists for 174 points in 183 career games.
The Blackhawks play host to the Oilers on Monday night as they look to gain ground in a crowded Western Conference Wild-Card race. Catch the action on Sportsnet West and Sportsnet+, with puck drop set for 6:30 p.m. MT / 8:30 p.m. ET.
