Artyom Levshunov will watch Tuesday's game from the press box.
The Chicago Blackhawks are scratching the rookie defenceman against the Toronto Maple Leafs after he showed up late to practice on Monday, head coach Jeff Blashill told reporters.
"He understands we have a standard, and that's been pretty clear. He's disappointed. It's hard when you feel like you didn't do it on purpose, and I get it. But you can't lack on your standard," Blashill said.
Levshunov, the 20-year-old Belarusian, has one goal and 13 assists in 31 games.
He was the second overall pick in the 2024 draft by the Blackhawks.
