The Chicago Blackhawks signed goaltender Alex Stalock to a one-year contract worth $750,000, the team announced Wednesday, adding to the edges of their roster amid what has been a transformational off-season for the franchise.
A former fourth-round pick by the San Jose Sharks in 2005, Stalock spent the first five seasons of his career in San Jose before being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he spent time in the American Hockey League and eventually signed with the Minnesota Wild in 2017.
Stalock played 28 games as the backup to Devan Dubnyk for Minnesota in 2017-18, going 10-10-4 with a 2.85 goals-against average and .910 save percentage. He reached the 20-win mark in a season for the first time in 2019-20.
Last season, while playing for the Sharks, he appeared in one game, allowing six goals on 28 shots.
