The struggling Columbus Blue Jackets are getting a much-needed boost.
Forward Sean Monahan and defenceman Erik Gudbranson have been activated off injured reserve, the NHL club announced Monday.
Monahan, 30, has missed the past 28 games after suffering a wrist injury at Pittsburgh on Jan. 7 and undergoing surgery on Jan. 24.
Monahan has 14 goals and 27 assists for 41 points in 41 games in his first season as a Blue Jacket, the best point-per-game average of his career.
Gudbranson, 33, has missed the past 66 games after suffering a shoulder injury in the home opener versus Florida on Oct. 15 and undergoing surgery on Oct. 21. The six-foot-five blue-liner has played 792 career games.
The Blue Jackets, losers of six in a row, are in New York to face the Islanders on Monday.
Columbus is four points out of a playoff spot.
