Blue Jackets’ Fantilli to miss game vs. Blues due to skate cut on leg

Columbus Blue Jackets rookie Adam Fantilli has trouble skating and heads to the locker room after a collision with Seattle Kraken forward Jared McCann; Fantilli would later be ruled out for the game with a lower body injury.

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Adam Fantilli will miss Tuesday’s game against the St. Louis Blues due to a cut on his leg from a skate.

The Blue Jackets add that Fantilli will be further evaluated after the team returns home following the Blues game.

The 19-year-old Fantilli was forced to exit Sunday’s game against the Seattle Kraken in the second period after he threw a hit on Kraken forward Jared McCann and McCann’s skate came down on Fantilli’s left leg.

Fantilli was seen leaving the arena on crutches and was in a walking boot.

The Nobleton, Ont., native registered one hit and one blocked shot in 7:30 of ice time before being forced to leave.

Fantilli, the third overall pick in the 2023 NHL draft, has been one of the lone bright spots for the struggling Blue Jackets this season.

In 49 games this season, Fantilli has 12 goals and is tied for second on the Blue Jackets with 27 points.
