The Columbus Blue Jackets said Monday forward Patrik Laine is expected to be out three-to-four weeks due to a sprained ankle.
Laine sustained the injury during Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the New York Islanders.
The 24-year-old Laine, who also missed six games in October due to an elbow injury, has two goals and two assists in eight games this season.
Columbus is last in the Eastern Conference with a 4-9-1 record.
The banged-up Blue Jackets announced this past Friday they have lost top defenceman Zach Werenski for the remainder of the season due to shoulder injuries and placed defenceman Nick Blankenburg (fractured ankle and high ankle sprain) plus forwards Sean Kuraly and Jakub Voracek (both out with upper-body injuries) on IR.
