Carson Soucy is sticking around in Ohio.
The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed Soucy to a one-year, $1.15 million deal, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported Tuesday.
The Blue Jackets had originally signed Soucy to a professional tryout contract and he suited up for two pre-season games. He finished without a point in those two games against the Red Wings and Sabres, but had 11 penalty minutes, two shots on goal, and averaged 16:25 of time on ice.
Soucy, 32, began last season with the New York Rangers, but was dealt to the Islanders ahead of the trade deadline for a third-round pick.
In 76 games between the two teams, the Viking, Alta., native tallied five goals and seven assists, while playing to a minus-six rating. He also logged 91 blocked shots and 105 hits.
Since being drafted in the fifth round (137th overall) in 2013, Soucy has split time between the Minnesota Wild, Seattle Kraken, Vancouver Canucks, Rangers and Islanders. He has 32 goals and 67 assists in 441 games over eight seasons.
