St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Bennington has been fined $5,000 for high-sticking Nashville Predators forward Luke Evangelista, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced Sunday.
The fine is the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The incident occurred during the third period of Saturday's game between the two teams. In a brief yet significant moment, Bennington extended the handle of his stick and caught Evangelista up high as he skated near the Blues' net.
Bennington was given a two-minute minor on the play and Pavel Buchnevich served the penalty.
Nashville went on to win 5-2, with Evangelista scoring one of the goals on a partial breakaway. Bennington saved 28 shots in the loss.
