Brandon Carlo's debut with the St. Louis Blues ended early after an ejection.
The veteran defenceman was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for kneeing Dallas Stars forward Roope Hintz Friday night.
The play occurred early in the third period with the Blues up 2-0. As Hintz made a stab at a pass that bounced over his stick near the Blues blueline, Carlo came in for a hit and the two made knee-on-knee contact.
Hintz was slow to get up on the play and briefly left the game, but did return before Carlo's major penalty was over.
The Blues acquired Carlo in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs over the summer. The 11-year veteran has never been suspended in his career.
