The St. Louis Blues will be without the services of Mike Hoffman for their season opener against the Colorado Avalanche.
The team announced Wednesday that the goal-scoring forward will be ineligible for the matchup because his work visa has yet to be approved.
He is expected to be eligible to play Friday when the Blues face the Avalanche again.
The 30-year-old signed a one-year, $4-million deal with the Blues on Jan. 11 after joining the club on a PTO.
Last season, Hoffman lead the Florida Panthers in goals with 29 and added 30 assists for 59 points in 69 games.
