The Detroit Red Wings are adding experience to their blue line.
Justin Faulk is headed to Motor City from the St. Louis Blues, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported Friday.
In exchange, the Blues are getting defenceman Justin Holl, forward prospect Dmitri Buchelnikov, a 2026 first-round pick and a 2026 third-round.
Faulk, 33, played the 1,000th game of his NHL career earlier this season.
The Minnesota native has 11 goals and 21 assists for 32 points in 61 games this season. He has 141 goals and 349 helpers for 490 points in 1,041 career games with the Blues and Carolina Hurricanes.
Faulk’s contract, with a cap hit of $6.5 million, expires after the 2026-27 season.

More information
A three-time all-star with the Hurricanes, Faulk was selected in the second round (37th overall) by Carolina in the 2010 draft. He played for the U.S. at the 2014 Olympics and at three world championships.
The Blues underwent a significant sell-off this deadline as they tumbled to second-last in the Western Conference, including dealing away captain Brayden Schenn earlier Friday.
The Red Wings are currently in a playoff spot in the Atlantic Division and looking to snap a 10-year long post-season drought. Faulk adds depth to the right side behind Norris Trophy contender Moritz Seider.
