The St. Louis Blues have traded their captain, signalling the end of an era.
The New York Islanders acquired Brayden Schenn from the Blues, the teams announced on Friday.
St. Louis will receive Jonathan Drouin, a 2026 first-rounder (via Colorado), a 2026 third-rounder (via New Jersey) and goalie prospect Marcus Gidlof.
Schenn waived his no-movement clause in order to facilitate the trade.
The Blues have dropped near the bottom of the standings in the Western Conference and may be looking to reset their roster at the trade deadline.
Schenn, 34, is in his third season as captain and ninth season overall with the Blues. He remains a reliable middle-of-the-lineup centre even as his scoring totals have dropped.

More information
In 61 games this season, the Saskatoon native has 12 goals and 28 points.
Schenn is in the sixth year of an eight-year contract that carries a $6.5 million cap hit.
He is the second Schenn to be dealt to a New York team at this year's trade deadline, as his brother Luke was traded to the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday.
The Islanders will visit the Blues on Tuesday as Schenn will make a quick return to his longtime home.
Per Blues reporter Andy Strickland, the teams are also currently staying in the same San Jose hotel. St. Louis faces the Sharks tonight, while the Islanders take on the California squad on Saturday.
