Defenceman Derek Forbort has been called up from an LTI conditioning loan with the Providence Bruins of the AHL, the Boston Bruins announced Monday.
Forbort played in two games with Providence during his conditioning loan.
The 32-year-old from Duluth, Minn., registered four assists in 35 games with Boston this season. He was placed on the long-term injured reserve on March 8 with an undisclosed injury.
Forbort is in the final season of a three-year contract he signed with the Bruins as an unrestricted free agent in July 2021.
He has recorded 95 points (17 goals and 78 assists) in 496 games over nine NHL seasons with the Los Angeles Kings, Calgary Flames, Winnipeg Jets and Bruins.
Boston returns to action Monday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 2 of their opening-round Stanley Cup Playoffs series. The Bruins hold a 1-0 lead after defeating the Maple Leafs 5-1 Saturday night.
