Carolina Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour did not have positive news about the injury forward Vincent Trocheck sustained during Tuesday's Game 2 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
"(It) doesn't look good," Brind'Amour said after the game. "I don't know the extent of it at this point but obviously he couldn't continue. You know he would have come back and played if he could."
Trocheck appeared to have collided with teammate Warren Foegele late in the second period after coming out of the penalty box. He struggled to get off the ice after the hit and though he briefly returned for the third period, he later headed back to the locker room.
The 27-year-old has two goals and three points during this playoff campaign. During the regular season, Trocheck notched 17 goals and 43 points across 47 games.
The Hurricanes fell to the Lightning 2-1 in Game 2, allowing Tampa Bay to extend its series lead to 2-0.
