Bruins' Carlo leaves game vs. Capitals after hit by Wilson

Washington Capitals' Tom Wilson hits Boston Bruins' Brandon Carlo on forecheck in the head against the glass, no penalties on the play. Carlo had to be helped off of the ice.

Boston Bruins defenceman Brandon Carlo will not return to Friday's game against the Washington Capitals due to an upper body injury, the team announced.

The injury occurred late in the first period, when Tom Wilson flew into the corner to hit Carlo high and hard. Carlo was slow to get up and was helped off the ice.

No penalties were assessed on the play.

Carlo, 24, has two goals and three points in 20 games so far this season.

After the game, head coach Bruce Cassidy revealed that Carlo was taken to the hospital by ambulance for his injury.
