Oliver Walhstrom's time on Long Island has come to an end.
The Boston Bruins have claimed the New York Islanders forward off waivers Saturday, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.
The Islanders placed both Wahlstrom and Pierre Engvall in order to make room for the return of forwards Anthony Duclair and Mat Barzal.
Wahlstrom has struggled to live up to the hype of being a first-round pick with the Islanders. The 24-year-old was selected 11th overall in 2018 and only has four points in 27 games this season after scoring 21 points in 44 games in his rookie season in 2020-21.
Envgall went unclaimed and was sent down to the AHL. The 28-year-old signed a seven-year deal in 2023 but has only six points in 20 games this season.
