Hampus Lindholm's night has come to an abrupt end.
The Boston Bruins defenceman has been ruled out against the Chicago Blackhawks due to a lower-body injury, the Bruins announced.
It's unclear when the injury occurred as Lindholm stepped off the ice for a routine line change at the 8:04 mark of the first period and did not return before ultimately being ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
The inauspicious start for the Swedish D-man comes after an injury-riddled 2024-25 campaign. Lindolm missed all but 17 games last year after undergoing knee surgery in November and then requiring a secondary procedure after a setback in February. It marked the fewest appearances of the 32-year-old's career as he tallied just three goals and four assists in that span.
Lindholm was originally drafted sixth overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2012 and spent 7.5 seasons of his NHL career with the team before getting traded to the Bruins in 2022.
