Boston Bruins defenceman Matt Grzelcyk was forced to leave Wednesday's game against the Edmonton Oilers with a lower-body injury, the team announced.
Grzelcyk was injured in the second minute of the first period, when Oilers forward Ryan McLeod took a whack at the top of his skate, sending him to the ice. Grzelcyk appeared to be in immediate pain, remaining down on the ice until training staff were able to reach him. He was helped off the ice by teammates and immediately went to the dressing room.
McLeod received a two-minute minute minor penalty for tripping on the play.
The 30-year-old Grzelcyk has two goals and five assists in 42 games this season while averaging 17:38 TOI.
