David Pastrnak was named the 28th captain in Bruins franchise history on Sunday, the team announced.
Boston's captaincy has been vacant since Brad Marchand was traded to the Florida Panthers at the 2025 trade deadline.
Pastrnak has spent his entire 12-year career with the Bruins and has reached the 100-point threshold in each of the last four seasons.
The 30-year-old winger is a four-time NHL all-star, won the Maurice Richard Trophy with 48 goals in 2019-20 and has been an alternate captain for the Bruins since 2021-22.
Pastrnak is entering the fourth season of an eight-year, $90-million contract that runs through 2030-31.
