The Boston Bruins placed forward Tyler Johnson on unconditional waivers Thursday in order to terminate his contract.
Johnson signed a one-year, $775,000, contract with the Bruins on Nov. 4, but has recorded only two assists in nine games.
The 34-year-old from Spokane, Wash., scored 17 goals and 31 points in 67 games with the Chicago Blackhawks last season.
Johnson captured back-to-back Stanley Cup titles with Tampa Bay in 2020 and 2021.
He has 193 goals and 433 points over 13 seasons with the Lightning, Blackhawks and Bruins.
