The Boston Bruins have secured some depth on the blue line moving forward.
Defenceman Frederic Brunet and the team have agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2027-28 season, the Bruins announced on Monday.
The deal carries an annual NHL cap hit of $875,000 and is a two-way contract for 2026-27 and one-way for 2027-28.
Brunet, 22, made his NHL debut and lone appearance with Boston in April 2025. He logged two shots on goal, five blocked shots and one hit in 14:23 of ice time and was a minus-one.
The Gatineau, Que., native was originally selected by Boston in the fifth round of the 2022 draft.
Brunet spent the 2025-26 season with the AHL's Providence Bruins, posting 11 goals and 17 assists in 55 appearances. He leads the team in scoring for a defenceman. He's got 18 goals and 49 points through 173 career AHL games, all with Providence.
