The Boston Bruins added some toughness on Monday, signing Jeffrey Viel for two seasons.
The team announced a two-year deal for the 27-year-old that will be a two-way contract in 2024-25 and a one-way in 2025-26. The deal carries an average annual value of $775,000 for both seasons.
Viel spent the 2023-24 season with the AHL's Manitoba Moose, picking up 17 goals and 40 points in 69 games while recording 142 penalty minutes.
The 27-year-old appeared in 49 games with the San Jose Sharks between 2020 and 2023, including a 34-game stint in the 2021-22 season that saw him pick up his first three career goals while being sent off for 114 penalty minutes.
Viel, a native of L'ange-Gardien, Que., was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by San Jose in 2019.
