The Buffalo Sabres have signed top pick from the 2023 Draft Zach Benson to a three-year deal, the club announced on Friday.
Benson's deal is worth $4.8 million, good for an AAV of $1.6 million. Because the contract is laden with performance bonuses, his salary-cap hit total is $2.85 million off 3 x $950,000.
Benson, 18, was selected 13th overall by the Sabres after a 98-point season with the Winnipeg Ice of the Western Hockey League.
