Canadian women's hockey team to be honoured at Heritage Classic

The Olympic gold medal-winning Canadian women's hockey team will be honoured at the 2022 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic on March 13.

In front of a sold-out Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, members of Team Canada will be presented to celebrate their gold medal performance from the 2022 Beijing Winter Games as well as their victory at the 2021 World Championship.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will take on the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL's sixth Heritage Classic live on Sportsnet at 4 p.m. ET.

Canadian country singer-songwriter Lindsey Ell will sing the Canadian and American national anthems, accompanied by Toronto Sign Language interpreters Azad Najfi and Matt Tell.

The pre-game ceremony will also include a land welcome led by Chief Stacy Laforme of the Mississauga of the Credit and Chief Mark Hill of Six Nations of the Grand River. Four CT-155 Hawk jets from 15 Wings Moosejaw, Sask. will perform a flyover right before puck-drop.

Grammy and Juno award winner Alessia Cara and pop-punk singer Willow will perform during the first intermission.
