The Montreal Canadiens acquired defenceman Frederic Allard from the Los Angeles Kings in a trade for forward Nate Schnarr on Friday.
Both players have played in the AHL all season.
The 25-year-old Allard, a native of St. Sauveur, Que., has two goals and five assists for the Ontario Reign this season. He has played one game in the NHL — in 2020-21 for the Nashville Predators, who selected Allard in the third round (78th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft.
The 24-year-old Schnarr has three goals and four assists in 27 games for the Laval Rocket this season.
