The Montreal Canadiens added forward Jake Evans and defenceman Alexander Romanov to the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol list on Saturday.
Evans and Romanov join forwards Brandon Baddock, Paul Byron, Laurent Dauphin, Mike Hoffman, Artturi Lehkonen and Tyler Toffoli in the COVID-19 protocol, along with defencemen Louie Belpedio, Ben Chiarot, Joel Edmundson, Gianni Fairbrother, Jeff Petry and Chris Wideman plus goaltenders Jake Allen and Cayden Primeau.
Only Jonathan Drouin, Nick Suzuki, Cedric Paquette, David Savard, Sami Niku, Kale Clague, Brett Kulak and Sam Montembeault are the only players with NHL experience on the roster. Brendan Gallagher also suffered an injury in the Canadiens’ 4-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday, which means the team only has 11 forwards and five defencemen.
Montreal is scheduled to play on the road against the Florida Panthers at 1 p.m. ET.
