Montreal Canadiens have announced that Jake Evans will not return to Thursday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It is not yet clear why Evans left Game 1 in his team's first-round series. The 24-year-old forward has three goals and 13 points during the regular season.

Cole Caufield, Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Alexander Romanov did not play in Game 1 on Thursday as coach Dominique Ducharme decided to dress a veteran group.
