The Montreal Canadiens' went down a defenceman on Saturday night.
Alexandre Carrier was injured in the second period of Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins and was later ruled out, the team announced.
The defenceman fell after a hit from Egor Chinakhov and slammed his neck and head into the boards. He immediately grabbed his head after the fall. He then went down the tunnel and was followed by an equipment manager.
In the third period the team shared that he was still being evaluated but would not return.
Carrier had a goal and an assist in Tuesday's win against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
