The Montreal Canadiens have added a dubious milestone to their historic record books by becoming the first team to officially finish a season in 32nd place.
While the Canadiens were able to defeat long-time rivals the New York Rangers Wednesday, a win by the Arizona Coyotes over the Dallas Stars assured the Canadiens would finish in last place.
The news isn't all bad for the Canadiens though. By finishing in 32nd, the Canadiens will hold the best odds to select first in the upcoming NHL Draft — an event they're hosting at the Bell Centre on July 7 and 8.
The lottery will take place on May 10 on Sportsnet and SN NOW during the pre-game show for that night's slate of NHL playoff games. Here is how the odds currently break down for all 16 teams that will miss the playoffs but a lot can change in the final two days.
Teams with an asterisk* can still change positions.
