Montreal Canadiens head coach Dominique Ducharme confirmed goaltender Carey Price hasn’t been on the ice since last Monday.
Price is focusing on off-ice training before getting back on skates.
“He keeps working on everything else. In the gym, off-ice treatment and so on,” said Ducharme, of Price, at a Canadiens media availability session on Monday.
When asked about the cause of the absence, Ducharme said: “It’s related to getting back in shape, knee, combination of those.”
Price, 34, voluntarily entered the NHL’s player assistance program more than a month ago. After returning to the Canadiens on Nov. 10, the goaltender issued a statement through the team and also posted it to his Instagram account saying he entered a residential treatment facility for his substance use.
The Canadiens (5-13-2) currently sit in seventh place in the Atlantic Division standings, allowing 70 goals in the first 20 games of the season without their star goaltender.
