The Montreal Canadiens have taken a hit to their blue line.
Defenceman Alexandre Carrier is out two to four weeks with an upper-body injury, the team announced on Tuesday.
Carrier, 29, last played Sunday, when he skated 19:05 in the Canadiens' 3-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. It is unclear when the injury occurred.
The Quebec City native has appeared in all 73 games for the Canadiens on the season, registering seven goals and 15 assists.
He joined the Habs in a mid-season trade from the Nashville Predators in 2024-25. For his career between the two clubs, Carrier has 20 goals and 89 assists over 369 contests.
Carrier's injury leaves Noah Dobson as the Canadiens' only healthy right-shot defenceman.
The Canadiens announced Carrier's injury a day after recalling defenceman Adam Engstrom from the American Hockey League's Laval Rocket.
The Canadiens are back in action Tuesday, when they look to extend their winning streak to six games as they visit the Tampa Bay Lightning in a key Atlantic Division showdown.
