Montreal Canadiens defenceman Arber Xhekaj will be out indefinitely with an upper-body injury, the team announced Tuesday.
The 22-year-old suffered the injury on Sunday against the Edmonton Oilers when he fought Oilers defenceman Vincent Desharnais in the second period. He did not return to the game.
Xhekaj has five goals and eight assists in 50 games for the Canadiens this season. Montreal currently sits second last in the Eastern Conference with a record of 22-27-4.
