Canadiens' Drouin day-to-day after being struck in head by puck

Montreal Canadiens forward Jonathan Drouin rushes quickly off the ice after taking a puck to the head and leaves the game.

Montreal Canadiens forward Jonathan Drouin was cleared from concussion protocol and will continue to be evaluated day-to-day after a shot from a teammate hit him in the head during Tuesday's game against the Detroit Red Wings.

Midway through the first period, a shot from Canadiens defenceman Brett Kulak struck Drouin, who was standing in front of the Red Wings goal. Drouin was able to skate off the ice under his own power but immediately went down the tunnel to the Canadiens' dressing room. The Canadiens officially ruled him out for the remainder of the game at the start of the second period.

Drouin registered only 2:27 in ice time before the injury.

The 26-year-old leads all Canadiens skaters with seven points through 10 games entering play Tuesday.
