The Montreal Canadiens will be without the younger Xhekaj for a little while.
Florian Xhekaj will be out for two weeks with a lower-body injury, the team shared on Friday.
The winger missed the home game against the Red Wings on Saturday with an undisclosed injury and also sat out the back-to-backs on Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Monday, Xhekaj appeared to be in lower-body pain at practice and left the ice early.
The 22-year-old fourth-round pick has appeared in two games for the Canadiens this season while logging no points and averaging 7:36 minutes on the ice.
The team also shared on Friday that there is no change to Matheson's status and he remains day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
Prior to his injury, Matheson led the team in time on ice and has one assist over five games played this season.
