For the second straight game, the Montreal Canadiens are turning to their rookie in net.
Head coach Martin St. Louis announced on Saturday that Jacob Fowler will get the start against the New York Rangers (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT).
Fowler shined in his NHL debut on Thursday, stopping 36 of 38 shots in a 4-2 victory. Montreal is hoping the 21-year-old can stabilize their goalie woes, as Samuel Montembeault and Jakub Dobes have struggled this season.
While the guy manning the crease remains the same, St. Louis is making some changes to the rest of the lineup.
Forward Jake Evans is set to draw back in after missing Thursday's matchup due to personal reasons. The 29-year-old has four goals and four assists in 28 games this season after signing a four-year, $11.4-million extension in March.
Jared Davidson is the odd man out for Evans. The 23-year-old forward appeared in 10 games with the big club this year, registering one assist while averaging 8:43 of ice time.
On the back end, Arber Xhekaj steps in for Jayden Struble. Xhekaj, who's become a fan favourite for his physical style of play, logged one assist and 57 hits through 27 games this season.
