The Montreal Canadiens will be without Jake Evans for Friday's practice.
The forward is taking a "therapy day" and not on the ice with the team on Friday, the Canadiens announced.
Evans was on the receiving end of a hit from Washington Capitals bruiser Tom Wilson late in the second period on Thursday night, which sidelined him for the remainder of the game.
Wilson caught Evans up high as the Canadiens forward was trying to clear the puck from his own end. The Capitals were able to keep the puck in the zone and immediately scored on a Jakob Chychrun slapshot.
No penalty was called on the play.
Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis wasn't a fan of the hit.
"I just thought it was high," St. Louis said to reporters after the game. "I thought he came from a long distance and high."
Evans returned to play one shift after the hit before exiting the game for good.
The 29-year-old forward entered Thursday's game with three goals and three assists in 19 games this season.
The Canadiens are also without forwards Alex Newhook (ankle) and Patrik Laine (core) as they deal with long-term injuries.
